Sony NEX-7 3D Rendering by Humster 3D Check out these 3D renderings of the Sony NEX-7 and the Sony A7R. The 3D rendering of the Sony digital cameras are made by Humster 3D. These are only the 3D files not actual models. The files would then be processed by a 3D printer to produce a solid model in many materials and colors. We have not bought any of these files so we can't attest to their quality. Sony A7R 3D Rendering by Humster 3D Check out Humster 3D for more information on the Sony NEX-7 or the A7R 3D model.

Sony A7r and NEX APS-C Lenses

Carl Zeiss 32mm Touit Lens on Sony A7r Here are a bevy of autofocus lenses made for the Sony NEX system mounted on the new Sony A7r . The red boxes show a 1:1 or square aspect ratio and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The lenses have rear baffles which were not removed. Most of the prime lenses can provide a square image with a little bit of vignetting. 16:9 images show heavy vignetting, maybe we can extract a 2.35:1 Cinemascope / Panavision image with the A7r's 36 megapixels to play with. First Snaps with the Sony A7r

Image
Here are our first snaps from the Sony A7r . The 90mm f/2.8 lens from the Contax G was perfect for our trip to the nursery. The camera was set to shoot raw. These images were sent to the smartphone via the Sony A7r's WiFi and NFC feature. SnapSpeed from Google was then used to tweak the files and here are the results. The wireless transfer of files are so easy that we are thinking of getting the EyeFi memory card for the NEX-7. More on the A7r in the days to come.

HBO's True Detective Featuring the NEX-5

Image
Woody Harrelson as Detective Martin Eric "Marty" Hart and the NEX-5 First let me say that I have not finished True Detective yet so please do not say anything about the story. We saw the camera on a tripod instantly featured during the interrogation scenes. The NEX-5 was used to record the interviews of Detective Hart and Detective Rustin Spencer "Rust" Cohle played by Matthew McConaughey. True Detective ended the 1st season with 8 episodes - will the NEX make it to the next season?

How Good is the Sony 28-70mm FE OSS Lens?

Image
Sony A7 Kit with 28-70mm Lens iso.light wanted to see how good the Sony 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 FE OSS Lens was. In order to test this he compared the lens against the Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS Lens from iso.light: So the question arose: should I get the Zeiss 24-70mm zoom lens? What improvements would it bring over the kit lens? Is that really worth 1200$? Well, you tell me! Here are some comparisons pictures, all shot with a tripod and the OSS turned off. The same focal length and other settings were selected on each lens (at least that’s what the EXIF says) and I tried to change the lenses as fast as possible between the shots. There are 5 pairs labelled A & B, in no particular order. I’m interested to see which picture you prefer? They all have been edited inLightRoom with exactly the same settings for each pair (note that no lens correction was applied as LR5.3 has no profile for the Zeiss yet). There are no right or wrong answers, you can either try to

Zeiss 24-70mm FE ZA with the A7r Zeiss 24-70mm AF Speed Test SLR Club posted a video of the autofocus speed of the new Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 ZA FE Vario-Tessar lens . This lens is made for the new Sony A7 cameras and covers its full frame sensor. This lens will also work on NEX aps-c cameras and will have an equivalent fov of 36-105mm. We are wondering how this lens compares to the Zeiss 16-70mm E ZA lens which is for the aps-c sensor. Both lenses share the common features. They have image stabilization, maximum aperture of f/4, and are dubbed Vario-Tessar by Zeiss. Zeiss 24-70mm FE ZA Pre-order from Amazon Ships early February

Canon 6D vs NEX-7 with Speedbooster

Canon 6D vs Sony NEX-7 with Metabones Speedbooster Tarocoo wanted to see what the NEX-7 with the Canon EF to E-mount Speedbooster can do against his full frame Canon 6D . He had access to a multitude of manual focus lenses which can be used on both E-mount and EF mount (EOS). The Speedbooster's final EFOV on the NEX APS-C sensor is about 1.1x the focal lenght - so the EFOV is close to the Canon 6D with the full frame sensor. The lenses used are: Sigma 24mm f/2.8 Sigma 28mm f/2.8 Olympus 35mm f/2.0 Sigma 50mm f/1.4 The images will show the whole scene at wide open to an aperture of f/11. It will be followed by center and corner crops at same aperture range. Here we go...
