Sony A7 Firmware 1.02 Upgrade Download is Live

Firmware 1.02 for the Sony A7 cameras is now live and ready for download. Go to your local Sony Support Website to download your firmware. Here is the Sony Australia Firmware Download Page.

Read the instructions multiple times to familiarize yourself.

Sony is offering a firmware upgrade for Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera ILCE-7R.

Improvements after firmware upgrade

Provides support for SEL70200G
- Improves auto focus speed
- Adds functions including the "Focus hold button"
Reduces start-up time
- The start-up time has been reduced in cases when the camera is switched on immediately after being switched off.
Improves image quality
Provides support for additional ”Play Memories Camera Apps” and additional features for previously supported apps.
-Provides support for "Liveview Grading" and "Smooth Reflection" applications.
-Provides support for the smooth automatic exposure feature in the "Time-lapse" application ver. 2.00 and later.

How to check the firmware version

Select Menu → Setup → Version on the camera.
The firmware version is displayed. If your firmware version is Ver. 1.02 or later, the upgrade is not required.


IMPORTANT:

When performing the firmware upgrade, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-FW50 or the AC adaptor AC-PW20 (sold separately).
Do not remove the battery or AC adaptor during the upgrade; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown.
Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand.

Slow and Quick Video Mode Options for Timelapse Shoot Timelapse Videos with Sony Alpha Cameras using Slow and Quick (S&Q) Motion Video Mode Christopher Burress shows us how to take a time lapse video with his Sony a6500 . He uses S&Q Mode which is found in the Video Settings. This is identical to the method we need to use on the new a7r iii .
