Benny Rebel , wildlife photographer, is using the Sony NEX-5 for his helicopter rig. He refers to it as the Octocopter for it's eight propellers. Since the NEX has the biggest sensor size to weight ratio with interchangeable lenses, it's the most logical choice for the job. We believe it's the 18-55mm OSS is being used. If you don't have a 3D TV yet, here's a way to view your Sony NEX 3D pictures. Sony NEX 3D Sweep Panorama to Wobble 3D via StereoPhotoMaker Download the latest version of StereoPhotoMaker by Masuji SUTO . Extract the file into a directory. Copy an MPO (multi-picture object) file created with 3D Panorama Sweep from the Sony NEX camera with ver. 02 firmware into the directory in step #2. Drag and drop the MPO file onto stphmkre.exe. StereoPhotoMaker will open up with the Left and Right image of your NEX 3D MPO file. To view with Red-Blue 3D glasses, click on Stereo > ColorAnaglyph > Optimized Anaglyph. To view as a wobble 3D image, click on Stereo > Single Image View > Flashing. Adjust the speed to your preference. You can resize the final output by clicking Edit > Resize. Adobe has released the Adobe® Photoshop® Camera Raw 6.2 plug-in and Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3.2 updates which support the Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 RAW files. We can now edit RAW files taken with the NEX in Windows machines with either Photoshop CS5 or Lightroom 3 . Camera Raw 6.2 and Lightroom 3.2 also adds Lens Profile Support for the Sony E 18-55mm OSS Lens which corrects distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. H.P. Moon sent us a link to cool video starring the Sony NEX-5 with the 18-55 OSS lens . The short film was created by Constantine Konovalov. Paul G took the time and effort and created an Adobe Lens Profile for the Sony NEX-3 and the 18-55 OSS lens using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. Lens Profile Creator characterizes three common types of lens aberrations, namely the geometric distortion, the lateral chromatic aberration and the vignette. Since Adobe does not support RAW files from Sony NEX cameras, you can only use the Lens Profile with JPGs to correct geometric distortion, lateral chromatic aberration and vignetting. For now you will have to import the jpgs in Lightroom and you can apply the lens correction. I think adobe will very soon include raw support for the nex though. Abbot W. tried out his new Sony NEX-5 and the 18-55mm OSS kit lens on a Glidecam HD2000 Stabilizer . He stated that the HD2000, rated for 2-6lb cameras, may be overkill for the lightweight Sony NEX-5. We are not sure if OSS was turned off as is suggested when stabilizers are used, like tripods and glidecams. Enjoy the scenery. Thanks Abbott W. !

restoration35 shows us how compact the Sony NEX-5 really is. Here it is with it's 18-55 OSS lens next to a Leica CL with a Leica 40mm Summicron-C f/2.0. And hopefully he'll use a Sony NEX E-mount to Leica M adapter to mount the 40mm onto the Sony NEX-5. What a great set of gears to own. Thanks restoration35 !
