The links include instructions on performing a firmware upgrade on your Sony NEX Camera. Charge you battery to 100% status and read the instructions at least twice then perform the firmware upgrade.

    Anyone know why they are updating the nex-5 and nex-3 and not the vg10?

    @Ukie the nex-vg10 usually gets the firmware at a later date than the nex-5 and nex-3.

    Just updated. I feel like the mode selection wheel is slower now. Its not horrible, but noticeable. The picture effects feature is kinda useless, especially since I shoot RAW. The partial color features are really off, my Canon P&S is more accurate, and you can choose the shade of the color for accuracy. This is base on my indoor tests, this might be better outdoor, but will have to see. The peaking feature is better, but really shows you the need of light in the contrast detection focus, as the peaking feature does not work in low light (even though you are still able to focus using LCD).

    Navigating thru the menu is slower and a not fluent - specialy at the "Scenes selection". Is there a way to downgrade back to v.3?

    @pbo as far as we know, the NEX firmware updates are not reversible.

    Added the North America link for NEX FW04.

    @Teslawill The Sony Firmware Updater will check what the current NEX fw is. This is from the Sony US instructions: Step 8. "If the current version is "Ver.1", "Ver.2", or "Ver.3", click "Next"." It looks like you can skip updates but we have read otherwise. We do not have a definite answer. The safest bet would be to do all updates in sequence. Please let us know what you end up doing.

    Does it have an autofocus update for sigma lens 50mm?.. With the Sony adaptor? Because the AF is not working with this lens, only Manual.

    Please help if you have any ideas!!!

Slow and Quick Video Mode Options for Timelapse Shoot Timelapse Videos with Sony Alpha Cameras using Slow and Quick (S&Q) Motion Video Mode Christopher Burress shows us how to take a time lapse video with his Sony a6500 . He uses S&Q Mode which is found in the Video Settings. This is identical to the method we need to use on the new a7r iii . The cameras then combine all the files shot at one frame per second to a video shown at your set speed.
