Sony NEX Canon EOS Lens Adapter
Here is RJ Adapter's Sony NEX E-mount to Canon EOS EF Lens adapter. We can now use Canon EOS EF and EF-S lenses. But it will only shoot at maximum aperture. A trick to set it at a different aperture is to hold down the DOF preview button, on a Canon EOS body, while removing the lens at the same time - use at your own risk.
This also opens up a world of possibilities since there are EOS lens adapters for many manual lenses including Contax/Yashica, Leica-R, Olympus Zuiko, Pentax Takumar, and the list goes on...
The tripod mount/feet is a very smart idea, the Sony LA-EA1 E-mount to Sony Alpha has one as well.

too bad about the lack of aperture control, canon has some nice affordable tele prime/zoom compared to sony
ReplyDelete@Randy you can probably find an older Minolta Autofocus lens that would be less money to replace the Canons.
ReplyDeletehey ken_vs_ryu... actually was thinking of some nice lenses such as the 70-200 constant f/4 which is a bit cheaper than the 70-300 f4.5-something from sony... they also have a cheaper 70-200 f/2.8 model (albeit older one), etc. overall, i like how canon lenses cover the expensive and good range and also offering cheaper (but excellent) alternatives
ReplyDeleteon the other hand, hopefully sony releases firmware upgrde for the alpha adaptor which i got recently. mf is easy with the 30/f2.8 and 50/f1.8 but would be real neat to have af for those
@Randy The sony 70-300 isn't that much more than the Canon 70-200/4, the beercan is even cheaper. And with the LA-EA1 A-mount lenses should autofocus with a FW upgrade. If you want an inexpensive 2.8, I guess we'll have to look at A-mount sigmas or tamrons. But I would like to see the Canon 100-400 on the NEX with aperture control.
ReplyDeleteIs it worth all the effort, irrespective of the aperture issue.

I have EF Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III on NEX 5,
ReplyDeleteit showed a message : Cannot recognize lens, attach it properly.
Any one can tell me how it works?
Need to enable release without lens. Check out what the manual says here.
