NEX-5 with Voigtlander 12mm Ultrawide Heliar Lens by Nakagane M



Let's go wide with the Sony NEX via the Voigtlander 12mm f/5.6 Ultrawide Heliar Lens in Leica M mount. This is the widest rectilinear prime lens for Leica M cameras and it does well on the NEX's APS-C sensor. The lens gives an equivalent focal length of 18mm on the NEX cameras for photos and 21.6mm for videos.     I gotta thank you for this blog. I was considering buying a NEX-5 for some casual photography, but didn't realize people can go real hardcore with this camera - now I am already on the order for my camera, hoping to receive it this week. Thank you SonyAlphaNex, you guys are /awesome/, hope to read about more interesting lenses.

    PS - Voigtlander 12mm Ultrawide, oh my God, this lense, I want it now. Too bad there is no where I can find a cheap pair. If any has a second hand one willing to sell, don't hesitate to email me -> bluelegopiece@hotmail.com

    Which adapter did you use and can this combination focus to infinity; does the adapter act like an extension tube in this respect.

      There are plenty of Leica M to E-mount adapters which achieve infinity focus. And there are also M to E adapters which include a focusing helicoid that can act like an extension tube but also achieve infinity focus in normal state. Voigtlander and Novoflex are the big names in E-mount adapters.

Slow and Quick Video Mode Options for Timelapse Shoot Timelapse Videos with Sony Alpha Cameras using Slow and Quick (S&Q) Motion Video Mode Christopher Burress shows us how to take a time lapse video with his Sony a6500 . He uses S&Q Mode which is found in the Video Settings. This is identical to the method we need to use on the new a7r iii . The cameras then combine all the files shot at one frame per second to a video shown at your set speed.
