Several features of the NEX makes it a great digiscoping camera: The NEX's 7 frames per second burst shooting allows you capture multiple images at a time so that you don't miss a shot and even catch birds in flight. The tilting LCD lets you position your scope at various angles. The weight of the NEX makes it easy to attach to various eyepieces. The E-mount can accept most lenses via adapters. The unicorns have arrived at the Sony Style store. The Sony NEX Body Cap, part number ALC-B1EM, and the Rear Lens Cap, part number ALC-R1EM, are now available at Sony Style . These are necessary if you are using lens adapters since those do not come with any caps. Hopefully the Sony NEX-3, NEX-5, and NEX-VG10 kits will have both caps included in the box. hel1x sent us info on his "do it yourself" intervalometer for the Sony NEX-5 using a generic wireless infrared remote . He was trying to decipher the switch-science intervalometer website but decided that he can build his own time lapse controller for the NEX-5. The circuit controls when the shutter button is depressed, by shorting the connection. The interval can be between 6-14 seconds. Here are some pictures of his device. Here are first two videos showing us the NEX autofocusing a Sony Alpha 30mm f/2.8 Macro DT with SAM , Sony Alpha 18-55 DT SAM and a Sony Alpha 35mm f/1.8 DT with SAM via the LA-EA1 lens adapter . This is now possible with the new NEX Firmware Version 03 . The first video, with the SAL35F18, shows that it's not the fastest at locking focus but it's acceptable. The 2nd video shows the SAL1855 focusing at an acceptable speed. The 3rd video, with the SAL35F28 Macro, shows the worst of it hunting to lock focus.
