Sony NEX with Zeiss 50mm Makro Planar

Image
Sony NEX-5 with Zeiss 50mm Macro Lens Berylliuminc was gracious enough to share some images from his NEX-5 and the Zeiss 50mm f/2.0 Makro Planar ZF . The Zeiss 50 MP has a Nikon mount and a Novoflex Nikon to NEX E-mount adapter is used. This equates to a 75mm field of view for the NEX APS-C sensor. Here are the NEX with Zeiss 50 Makro samples. The colors and drawing style is what you can expect from a Zeiss lens. These images were JPGs straight from the NEX-5 with no post processing. They were downsized to be posted here. Thanks Beryllium Inc!!

Mitakon 28mm E-mount Lens Samples

Image
Here is more information on the Mitakon Optics 28mm f/2.8 E-mount lens. The lens uses a revolver type aperture system unlike the iris system most lenses use. The Mitakon E28 was initially sold for 518 Yuan, which converts to $80. The initial offering sold quickly. Mitakon Optics 28mm Lens for Sony NEX

Image
Sony E 18-55mm and the Mitakon 28mm E-mount Samples from the Mitakon 28mm f/2.8 E-mount can be found here . Here is an interesting lens posted by 皮叔 aka unclepi . It is a Mitakon Optics 28mm f/2.8 in native Sony E-mount. It is a manual focus lens. The lens is small, very similar to the Sony 16mm E-mount SEL16F28 and shares the same maximum aperture of 2.8. This should be an inexpensive compact solution for an equivalent 42mm focal length perspective. We do not have any details on pricing or performance. Mitakon Optics is a lens maker from China. It is nice to see another lens maker join the E-mount system. Thanks 皮叔 aka unclepi!

Adjust Infinity Focus on NEX Lens Adapters

Image
Here is a generic Leica M to Sony NEX E-mount lens adapter . The adapter allows for infinity focus but it occurs before the infinity mark. We wanted to get closer to the infinity mark so we took off the (4) screws that attach the silver part to the black part. We used a precision slotted screwdriver and made sure not to strip the very tiny screws. We used pieces of aluminum foil to add thickness to the adapter. This will get the Leica M lens farther away from the Sony NEX sensor and infinity focus should be closer to the infinity mark on the lens. If the foil is too thick, the lens will be too far away and infinity focus may not be achieved. Reassemble the adapter and test the lens for infinity focus.

Sony NEX-3 with Konica Hexanon 40mm 1.8

Image
Konica Hexanon AR (AutoReflex) 40 mm / F1.8 zackiedawg shows us his Sony NEX-3 with a Konica Hexanon AR 40mm f/1.8. This is considered a pancake lens but with the Konica Hexanon AR to Sony E-mount lens adapter being almost as big as the lens, the term pancake is negated. It is still a lightweight solution for a 60mm equivalent low light lens on the NEX. Here are some sample photos by zackiedawg of the NEX and the Hexanon AR 40mm at various apertures. Aperture = f/1.8 Aperture = 5.6 Crop of above Aperture = f/1.8 Aperture = f/1.8 Aperture = f/1.8 Aperture = f/8 Thanks zackiedawg!

Sony NEX-3 with Minolta Auto Bellows III

Image
Sony NEX-3 with Minolta Bellows III and Minolta 50mm f/1.4 MD Rokkor FlickrDelusion wanted to get large with his NEX-3. What better way than to use a bellows system for macro pictures. Luckily he had a Minolta Bellows III and a Minolta 50mm f/1.4 Rokkor MD at hand. A Minolta MD to Sony NEX E-mount lens adapter and he had linked the past to the present. Here are some samples of the NEX-3, the Minolta Auto Bellows III, and the Minolta 50mm at different apertures. 50mm MD Rokkor @f/16 50mm MD Rokkor @f/5.6 50mm MD Rokkor @f/1.4 Thank's FlickrDelusions!

Sony NEX Viewfinder with Magnifier

Image
Doug F sent us an email showing his NEX-5 viewfinder. It's reminiscent of the Hasselblad Waist Level Finder where you focus using the lcd surrounded by a hood and if needed you can flip up a magnifier. The components to make this viewfinder are a hacked clearviewer, the magnifying element, and a Sony NEX LCD hood. The whole unit folds up neatly and doesn't add bulk to the svelt NEX body. If you're using manual focus lenses, shooting should be a bit faster since you don't have to magnify the image 7x or 14x. The Doug F viewfinder is also easily detachable from the NEX-5 since it is only mounted using the LCD hood connections. Sony NEX LCD hood. Click here for more information on the Clearviewer . Thanks Doug F!
