Konica Hexanon 57mm 1.2 on NEX-7

Image
We've seen what the Sony A7r can do with the Konica 57mm f/1.2 , now it's the NEX-7's turn. We actually took these shots almost two years ago. The 57mm on the NEX-7's APS-C sensor produces an equivalent field of view of 86mm. The lens having such a large aperture at f/1.2 is perfect for isolating your subjects. The shots are most likely at f/2.0 instead of wide open. We had to stop down since it was producing better results that day. We love greens that are produced by the Sony sensor and the shots below show it well. /> Can you tell a big difference between the 2 year old NEX-7 shots vs the recent A7r shots? Our biggest lesson is to process your files as soon as you can.

Autofocus Speed with LA-EA4 and Sony A7

Sony A7r with Konica Hexanon 57mm f1.2

Sony A7r with Konica Hexanon 57mm f/1.2 shot by NEX-7 with a Leica 60mm Macro-Elmarit-R Here are some of our test shots from the Sony A7r and the Konica Hexanon 57mm f/1.2 lens. The lens was mounted on the A7r using a Konica AR lens adapter . We wanted to test out the lens at f/1.2 the whole time and it was fitted with a 4X ND filter to battle the sun. The 1/8000 shutter speed and 50 ISO of the Sony A7r helped at times as well. The Konica 57mm played very well with the A7r per our standards. All the shots were handheld as we rarely use a tripod. The focusing, at such a shallow depth of field from the large f/1.2 aperture of the lens, was manageable on the A7r. The weight of the lens would make us think twice of walking around with it but the results are hard to argue with. The details shown at f/1.2 is remarkable even at the outer edges of the shots. 100% crop of the shot above shows great detail. Not a technically perfect shot. Red Pail Pops. 100% crop of the shot a

The A7's 28-70mm FE Kit lens was used on the A7r and produced "stellar" shots. The A7 and A7r's focus systems were compared. The water resitance was also tested using the A7r and the 28-70mm kit lens. A Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M ASPH was used to show how adaptable the E-mount is. The focus peaking display was nicely featured. In conclusion, Kai was impressed with both cameras, "Sony has created a product of desire." Sony A7r with a Voigtlander 12mm Lens and Viewfinder It was a very crowded Sony booth at PhotoPlus. The great thing was the Sony representatives were very accommodating to anyone who wanted to play with the new Sony A7 and A7r. We had our bag of lenses and was able to mount them all on the A7 and A7r - check out the 12mm viewfinder on the A7r above. Contax Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Planar with the Metabones Speedbooster and the standard C/Y adapter. Zeiss 12mm f/2.8 Touit Distagon. The cameras were pre-production and the use of memory cards to record the images was prohibited. We wanted to see if I could see immediate problems on the rear tilting lcd but none were glaring.  The only noticeable issue was color shift with the Contax G 28mm Biogon.  We're hoping that this can be remedied with

Sony A7r Jpeg Samples from Gustav

Sony NEX-5N with a Hasselblad 50mm Distagon via RhinoCam Photo by PCMag" The RhinoCam allows us to use NEX E-mount cameras with medium format lenses. The RhinoCam has lens adapters for Pentax 645, Mamiya 645, or Hasselblad V lenses. The NEX is mounted on a shift mount while the lens is fixed. The NEX is then shifted to cover the image circle projected by the medium format lens. Each image is then stitched by an imaging software. Here's an in-depth video walk through of the RhinoCam. NEX-7 with Contax 28mm Distagon via Speedbooster

Here are some sample shots from the NEX-7 and the Contax Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 Distagon using the Metabones Speedbooster . It was great shooting the 28mm at close to its natural focal length. The lens was always set wide open at f/2.8 and the NEX-7 was at ISO 100. We are very pleased with the Speed Booster.
